Newton Heath Flyball team were competing the weekend at Redcar.  To say it was windy is a bit of a understatement!

We had 3 teams running over the weekend.  First in were the Timelords, which were me with Skye, Sarah with Greg, Amanda with Holly and Tina with Greg.  We had some really great racing and were running at 18.50′s.  We managed to win every race and won the division.

Next in were the Warlocks.  This was Neil with Holly, Nathan with Boogie, Amanda with Sandy, Ken with Star and Sarah with Ffion.  Some really close racing for this team and walked away with 3rd place.

On Sunday we had the Sorcereres running which was me with Brodie, Kathryn with Harry, Janet with Jazz, Denise with Skye and Neil with Sam.  Again some good racing and some very close races but unfortunately it wasn’t our day.  No places for us but again some good racing.

Well done team and keep up the good work.

We have 2 competitions coming up in October at local venues.  We also have some new dogs to the team having their first competitions with Newton Heath so why not come along and support us and see whats its all about?

The weekend of 3rd – 4th September we were in sunny Blackpool and luckily the weather held out for us.  We had the Timelords running on the Saturday who walked away with a 5th and fantastic new seed time of 18.16 seconds!  Well done to me with Skye, Sarah with Greg, Amanda with Holly and Tina with Jake!  Great time guys, looking forward to racing with the big boys!

Also on Saturday were Newton Heath Warlocks!  Again brilliant racing and walked away with a 3rd!  Well done to Ken with Star, Neil with Holly, Amanda with Sandy, Nathan with Boogie, and Janet with Jaz, great racing guys and really good feed back from other teams.

On sunday we raced the Newton Heath Sorcerers who walked away with a 1st!  Well done guys, these 1st’s are coming thick and fast! and again great feed back.  Well done to me with Brodie, Sarah with Ffion, Kathryn with Harry, Denise with Skye and Neil with Sam.  Well done all the flyballers.

Pam Brooker and Titch managed to take an amazing 5x Agility wins and 1x Jumping win plus a 2nd in Jumping at Wilton Week….. this puts this pair into Grade 4, WE ALL KNEW YOU WOULD DO IT!!!! WELL DONE!!!!

This totally outstages Hannah Grantham and Boo’s 4th place in Jumping at Chatsworth….. but hey still worth a mention!!!

Hello club members & subscribers.  Tina mentioned in class on Wednesday night that Oldham Council intend to introduce Dog Control Orders.  I (Justin, site admin) decided to look into this & found Oldham Council are proposing to:

  • Prohibit dogs from entering children’s play areas (excluding helper dogs etc)
  • Keep dogs on leads within some of Oldham’s parks.
  • Put a maximum number of four dogs per handler regulation into effect for all parks.
  • Full details of the consultation can be seen here on Oldham Council’s website. The deadline for submissions is Monday 27th September.  Submissions should be sent to:

Kathryn Kelly, Acting Group Manager Environmental Health & Registrars
    Oldham Council
    Economy,Place & Skills Directorate
    Chadderton Town Hall
    Chadderton, OL9 6PP

I’m of the opinion that the proposals seem reasonable, although I think some handlers might object to their local park being limited to on-lead activities only.  You have the chance to have your say in this – so if it’s likely to affect you make sure you let Oldham Council know.
