The club invited Shirley Clowes to do an obedience training  day on Monday the 17th May. It was attended by more than twenty of the club’s members. Shirley took each handler in turn with there dog and gave individual advice on improving the team’s exercises. Most handlers chose heelwork and Shirley gave suggestions on how to improve and move forward. Thanks to Mo Graham for organising the event.

The flyball team entered the Live Wires show on Sunday the 16th May and the starters Newton Heath Newbies finished in second place. Well done to some of our members entering flyball for the first time Keith with Ella and Janet with Jazz

Club members & class attendees should be aware that kennel cough is currently doing the rounds in our area. It is highly contagious and care must be taken whether your dog has been vaccinated or not. Even if it has been vaccinated recently, different strains of the disease can occur & vaccinations may not be effective.

Please be aware of the symptoms which start with a very harsh, dry, hacking cough & can include a high temperature, going off their food and lethargy. Seek the advice of your vet if you suspect your dog is showing signs of infection.

If you suspect your dog has kennel cough, reduce their contact with other animals as much as possible & do not bring it to the club or events until the infection has cleared.

All tannoy announcements at our agility show in June will be broadcast over the radio on frequency 87.7.

Well done to Stephanie Wilson-Astbury and Lucy on winning an agility class at Shrewsbury DTC agility show on 1st May 2010.

The win takes this fantastic agility partnership into Grade 3!

This is made even more amazing by the fact that Lucy was rescued by the RSPCA, she was found in a back garden with third degree burns on her back, and a broken hind leg.

Now in a loving home Lucy is enjoying life to the full with a successful agility career ahead of her.

So, an extra special well done to both of them!

Good luck in Grade 3.
